Senryu – Three for Palm Sunday

from the 19th century book, Half Hours With the Bible, New Testament, New York: Clifton Pub. Co.

the lowly king came
riding on a borrowed colt
over palms and cloaks

now to the youngest
we consign hosanna-ing
the son of david

you must be little
like these to see my kingdom
said the lowly king
