Photos – Disuse, Disrepair, Desecration – A Church in St. Louis

I have been watching this church on Page Avenue fall apart for the last decade. It has really accelerated over the past several years. Unfortunately, all over North St. Louis there are churches in varying states of decay, often alongside decaying houses or empty lots.

I do not trespass in my intermittent efforts at urban exploration very often and I have complicated thoughts about photographing ruins (also here), but on this very snowy and cold Sunday morning the front door of this church was ajar. And, so, I went in and took a panorama. I was not conscious at the time, but the snow was even then pouring through the holes in the roof.

The main image is a sadly fitting pair to a previous image of a ruined church, which is my best selling image.
