The new banner for the blog comes from this image I took in New Orleans this past October. This image also represents one of the few times when I have expressly ignored the wishes of a photographic subject and furtively took and posted the shot including them anyway. The artist said, “Oh, not the hands” because she was ashamed of how they looked and so she drew them back. I, though, thought they looked just as they should and beautiful, especially paired with their amazing handiwork. I trust I made the right call. I had asked her permission about whether I might take a picture of her working before I did so, I should note.
