Glazed Block Silo – Viborg, South Dakota – Three Views

Apologies. I do rather need to clean this lens, which I am only using because my favorite has bit the dust and I am a little at a loss because I used it so much.

  1. What a great silo – I am missing the big wooden barn and I am sure used to sit right next to this.
A bit of canned air will do wonders with that lens, Neil. I had the same issue not long ago and boy, was I ever gnashing my teeth!

  2. Once the deed is done, you can’t beat the healing brush in Photoshop for removing lint and fuzz and dust from images, either.

I haven’t (that I can remember) seen a silo done in *glazed* block. What a distinctive look that gives it. Really impressive, and surprisingly arty for such a utilitarian building that’s often treated strictly as an afterthought, architecturally speaking. Makes for a striking color contrast with the rich blue of the sky, of course, which it pretty compelling in itself.
