Kathyrn, I am afraid that in this shot (and many others) I am breaking the rule of thirds by having my focal point in the middle. I am glad that is works, though, perhaps, as you note because there are geometric patterns elsewhere to make it interesting.
As well-read as you are, I know you’re perfectly aware that all rules are made to be broken! 😉 The balances off of the center here make it far less obvious that there *is* a centered focal point, and thus play against type handily, so you are clever and successful in subverting the supposed Golden Mean. 🙂
Ooooh! I love the old timey feel to this – the color is so warm and inviting and I don’t care if you broke the rule of thirds – this is fabulous! I think I would like to see it without the books at the bottom as well, though they lend so much visual interest.
This looks just like a Christmas card to me!
Thank you, though I was trying to be a little ironic with my title, as the background and tone aren’t too merry 🙂 I agree, though, that is does have an old timey feel.
Oh this one, i love the most, that string!! c
Thank you, Cecilia. I am happy, too, that the string showed up so crisply.
Another of your nice geometric compositions. You have such a feel for these!
