This impressive building sits at the very top of the hill that makes up St. Louis’ famous “The Hill,” known for its Italian restaurants, and can be seen a long way off from many points in south St. Louis. It has a bit of a creep aura and stories floating around its amazing dome and buildings. For an official history see here.

I’ve seen a couple of photo collections shot inside abandoned asylums and hospitals, and since abandoned buildings of ANY kind are fabulous playgrounds for photography but ones with *history* that much more so, it might be worth your while to see if you could get permission to shoot inside the grounds and buildings here, if you haven’t already. I’m hoping to find some such interesting resource around where we live for similar experience.
I find the second shot in this pair particularly evocative. Perfect on All Souls’, somehow.
