spring springs from places

spring springs from places
dark and dormant; summer, fall
pressed into black loam

  1. i like this the best of all your recent haiku. “spring springs” — why is it i’ve never tried that phrase on for size myself? i also think the two thoughts you express unfold very nicely over three lines. it’s obvious how comfortable you are with this form! lovely.

  2. Thank you, Bob. I really do like haiku rather well. Often I want to try to accomplish too much with a haiku, or, rather, I try to incorporate too many elements. It is challenging to whittle thoughts down to where they express what one wants, with perhaps some ambiguity.
