i miss words; folded

i miss words; folded,
creased, passed, mailed; waiting coyly
under wiper blades

  1. (smile) lovely, especially the unexpected, “under wiper blades.” whoever misses those? and cute comment! thank you.

  2. Thanks, y. Well, I was not exactly referring to parking tickets with the wiper blades. Having just paid off a bunch of those, I certainly do not miss those 🙂

Ah the perils of including perhaps too personal of a reference in a poem, which may be lost on others. It is a fine balance to find between the personally meaningful and the universally (with a small “u”) understandable. A former girlfriend and myself would leave notes for one another on each others car in college. A very nice little practice. Perhaps, I was assuming leaving personal notes on windshields is a little more widespread than it is 🙂 At any rate, I was trying to cover the whole gamut of notes written to one another on paper, from high school notes in class to letters.

Very nice photography on your blog, by the way.

  3. oh, i totally didn’t even think of parking tickets. i was thinking of advertisement flyers. you see a row of cars with flyers a lot here. each photo has a bit of writing accompanying it in the first comment section, if you come back to visit.

  4. I must be too much of a romantic…I was thinking about little love notes left by some shy admirer…I need to go back and read Candide. 🙂
