Well, this post is about a lot of things, but principally about one small dog, who is mostly a Jack Russell terrier and still mostly a puppy. I generally am very careful about posting pictures of my nieces and nephews online and other people’s babies, so perhaps it is shocking that I have not asked the owners of Copper persmission to post these 😉 Well, I suppose I can claim some sort of foster parenting rights. Actually, it is my flatmate/landlord/friend who has agreed to house Copper until his and his owner’s house gets ready to move into, and, thankfully, he does all of the early morning walking and most of the rest of it too. I do have my regular evenings to walk Copper, though, along with some ad hoc opportunities. And it is a good experience. First, because I like dogs. Second, because it teaches me patience. Groan, some times I get rather short with him. And it was on one of these walks that my crazy nickname making mechanism (does everyone have one of these?) kicked in and I came up with Mini Copper, you know, after the Mini Cooper, and David has taken to referring to him as MC in our communication about him. It does not make much sense, but he is quite mini…and darn cute. Poor dog had to wait patiently on our long walk today, as I took the leaf pictures, much like my friends graciously do on occassion, only without the leash.

Whenever people talk about this dog, I automatically think of this comic: http://www.boltcity.com/maidenvoyage/mv_001.htm
Which doesn’t exactly make sense, because upon rereading it, I discovered the dog has the rather normal name of Fred, and Copper is the name of his owner. Still, I think I’ll still associate the dog with the comic.
