In counting the syllables for this haiku, which I invariably do on my fingers when writing haiku or sonnets, I discovered that I almost say the word “fire” using two syllables i.e. “fye-er.” I suppose one can just say it fast. I suppose this may be an accent issue as some folk say this word in one, elongated syllable when they say “faaar.”
