Well, though I am taking a needed break from taking pictures, here some that go with the ones I recently had published in Catapult and which I promised to post today.
Well, though I am taking a needed break from taking pictures, here some that go with the ones I recently had published in Catapult and which I promised to post today.
Why are you taking a break from pics?
Just excessive numbers of photos?
Sometimes (especially in college, traveling abroad) I would get so caught up in “capturing” a moment with my camera it was like I wasn’t actually “in” the moment anymore, I was off in la-la photo-land. I had to chill out and let things pass to be more present with times I really wanted to remember…
Yeah, Heidi, that is kind of how it is. This is how I described it in an email to a friend:
“I have been having fun taking pictures, though perhaps need to take a break as I feel I am a bit of a beauty addict just now, or worse an affirmation addict in the affirmation I get for having taken a good picture. Groan. Last night I ate my dinner on the porch and watched the sunset, though, and squelched all desires to go get my camera, so that was good.”
Hey Neil, I’ve been enjoying your break! Thanks for letting me borrow Luce. I’ll try to put up some photos…maybe tonight?
Maybe we can help on the “affirmation” thing- we’ll just give zero feedback from now on till your withdrawl is complete! Everyone, let’s help our friend Neil on this.
Ha! (j/k)
Good plan, Heidi.
“Please, don’t feed the bear!”
🙂
How long do you think the withdrawal period will last? No commenting for anything more than a week is inconceivable! I suppose I too am an affirmation addict-both giving and receiving.
How about we join in an Affirmation Anonymous group Neil?
I can just see it now
We Enter
AA Leader: “Welcome new members of Affirmation Anonymous. This group is designed to help those of us who are addicted to giving and receiving affirmation.”
AA Group Members (in joyful unison): “Welcome, come join the circle.” “Here sit by me if you like,” “coffee?”
Neil: “Wow, thanks for the warm welcome. I feel so accepted and affirmed.”
Heidi: “Well said Neil, well said!”
AA Leader: “Exactly!”
Heidi, you crack me up. Seriously, I am not simply just affirming you, though I am 🙂 I am glad you get the affirmation thing. It is good to talk about it. And it is good to make light of it. My brother and I sometime call ourselves affirmation hounds, you know, like dogs at a butcher shop looking for any little scrap. Though, I suppose you have to grow up overseas to see that imagery.
No, this was not intended to be a crazy long break, and I maybe shouldn’t have articulated my desire to do it at all. I was just chilling a bit.
FEEEW! I thought you were taking a month off or something!
