The last of the #zinnias Autumnal. A post-apocalyptic vision in North County... Time of the goldenrod. Yesterday morning, the clouds were aglow with the dawning. It had been a week since September's heat dome had broken, and the pool was in the nether world between summer's joyful splashings and being drained and covered for the winter. My time in the pool in the summer was in the glorious long evenings, but with 4 resident young boys the pool had seen far more exciting hours. I was walking C who had probably put on about 25 lbs since my last visit. The scene was also evocative enough to spawn a haiku. Morning glory. A glory faded, but glory nonetheless. Monarchs on goldenrod. Feels like home III. Autumn, the cornfields, the soybeans, yellow flowers, and goldenrod. #illinois #autumn
